Andrea Bonatta

Andrea Bonatta was born in Bolzano and received his first piano lessons from his mother, a talented concert pianist, at the age of five. His musical development was influenced by various cultural experiences. His first Italian teachers, Nunzio Montanari and Emilio Riboli, were followed by further studies under Paul Badura-Skoda in Vienna, Nikita Magaloff in Geneva, Stefan Askenase in Bonn and Wilhelm Kempff in Positano. After winning many prizes in international competitions, such as ¡°Maria Canals¡± in Barcelona and ¡°Casagrande¡± in Terni,? Andrea Bonatta embarked on an international concert career and performed in Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, The Netherlands, South America, USA and Australia, also as soloist with important Orchestras (two Brahms Concertos). Besides numerous radio and TV productions, he also recorded various successful CDs for the French Astr¨¦e-Auvidis label in Paris: among others the complete piano work by? Brahms (5 CDs) and the complete Harmonies Po¨¦tiques et Religieuses by Liszt (2 CDs). These recordings have been highly acclaimed by the international record magazines (best CD of the year/Neue Musikzeitung, Choc/Le Monde de la Musique, ffff/Telerama, 4stars/Musica a.s.o.).

He recently published his first book, Johannes Brahms. His piano work , which has been already translated into German. In addition to his appearances as concert pianist he gave master classes in London (Trinity College), Weimar (F. Liszt- Hochschule), Prague (S.Vegh-Academy), Merano (Meranofest), Utrecht (Vredenburg) and at the Melbourne, Monash and Adelaide University. Andrea Bonatta? has been selected to serve on several juries of International Piano Competitions such as Liszt Competition in Weimar, Busoni Competition in Italy, Utrecht Competition in The Netherlands, Viotti Competition in Vercelli¡­ He has been piano professor at the Conservatory in Bolzano since many years and is Artistic Director of the International ¡°Ferruccio Busoni¡± Piano Competition.
