Yang liqing

??Chairman of the Jury (b. April 1942) Chinese composer, Yang Liqing, is a Professor and the President of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Board Director of China Musicians' Association, vice chairman of the Musicians' Association Shanghai, Director of the Overseas Retured Scholars' Society Shanghai, and Committee member of Writers & Artists' League Shanghai. After his graduation from Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Mt. Yang Liqing studied for his MA of composition in Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In 1980 Yang was the first Chinese composer to be sent abroad for study after the Cultural Revolution and gained his diplomas in the Solistenklasse for composition and Ausbildungsklasse for piano in the Staatliche Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater Hannover, Germany.

?????? Mr. Yang is a winner of several composition competitions. He has composed many works for western and Chinese orchestra,chamber ensemble, percussion ensemble and film soundtrack. The works have been performed widely in China, Germany, England, France, United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, etc. His writings include a book: "The Compositional Techniques of Olivier Messiaen" and Treatieses: "Style Evolution in Orchestration", "On Post-modernism in Contemporary Western Music" etc. He taught in Music College "Mozarteum" of Salzburg in Austria as a guest professor in 1990, and in Cornell University in USA as a visiting professor in 1995. Mr. Yang won the scholarship of DAAD from German in 1990, the ACC & CSCC from USA in 1995. Besides, he gave lectures in more than 20 universities and music colleges in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and United States. In 1992, Mr. Yang won the title of Specialist with Outstanding Contribution" issued by the Chinese government. Since 1994 he began to teach as a doctoral tutor.
